The Brief
Touted to be one of the most luxurious hotels opening in the UAE, the design team wanted a gym that matched the expectations of their guests.
The hotel’s aesthetic leans toward Japandi - neutral tones, natural textures, and a calm, refined atmosphere. They wanted a fitness space that carried the same design language, rather than the typical black-heavy gym layout.
The room allocated for the gym wasn’t a standard shape, but that became an advantage. Working closely with the hotel’s design team, we divided the room into dedicated zones for cardio, strength, mobility, and even a compact boxing corner.
The owner’s goal was simple: create a gym that feels inviting - one that encourages guests to spend more time investing in their health and wellbeing.
Proposal
1. Strength: The strength zone runs along a mirrored wall, creating both a visual expansion of the room and a way for users to monitor form. Key pieces include the PENT. Banka exercise bench, Colmia dumbbells on a horizontal stand, Lova kettlebells, and the Lina battle rope. A NOHRD Weight Bench pairs seamlessly with the Squat Rack, plates, and Slimbeam cable machine. Smaller accessories, such as the PENT. Twista ab roller, are housed in a custom wooden shelf, keeping the space refined and organised.
2. Cardio: Positioned along the glass wall, the cardio zone maximises natural light and airflow. Three NOHRD Sprintbok manual treadmills create a dynamic running experience, complemented by two NOHRD Bikes for compact yet powerful rides. A dedicated cycling studio fitted exclusively with NOHRD Bikes offers a focused environment for endurance training.
3. Mobility: The NOHRD Wallbar anchors this zone, serving as both a versatile training tool and an elegant design feature. Supporting elements - yoga mats and blocks, balance trainers, the PENT. Lipova push-up bar, foam rollers, the Mesna fitness ball, and a skipping rope are integrated within a built-in wooden shelf for a clean, functional, and design-forward layout.
4. Boxing: The boxing corner features the PENT. Raxa boxing bag with handcrafted gloves. Built for durability and performance, they round out the training mix while complementing the overall aesthetic of the space.
